Mesh flaps don't load like cloth flaps. Bullard Abrasive’s Type 27 flap discs for one-step FRP grinding and finishing in the 36-80 grit range. Stock removal capabilities of a depressed center wheel with the surface finishing characteristics of a resin fiber disc. Heavy duty construction provides for aggressive edge grinding. Overlapping flap design creates a cushioned substrate resulting in high stock removal rates and surface blending action to deliver consistent material removal and even finishes. Very little surface pressure required. Mesh net structure resists clogging on soft materials, so surfaces stay cooler and avoid burning. For best results, use disc at less than 15° angles to the work piece.

Replaces 36-80 grit sanding discs and last 10-15 times longer than resin fiber discs. Aluminum oxide grain is embedded into abrasive mesh/net layers, attached to a semi-rigid fiberglass backing. As the top layer of abrasive wears away, a new layer is exposed from the under layers. No other abrasive can match the speed and stability of removal while keeping the temperature of the work surface low. Ideal for all composite materials including carbon fiber, plastics, aluminum, and other non-ferrous metals. Compare to resin fiber discs: fewer change overs, no curling in storage, consistent finish, and requires no backup pads.
